Measure of the relative acidity or alkalinity of
water. Defined as the negative log (base 10) of the hydrogen ion
concentration. Water with a pH of 7 is neutral; lower pH levels
indicate an increasing acidity, while pH levels above 7 indicate
increasingly basic solutions.
